School Transfer Guide
Key steps when transferring your child to a new international school in Malaysia.
Step 1: Get Release Letter from current school
Your current school must cancel the existing Student Pass and issue a Release Letter. Do NOT enrol in a new school before this. Old pass cannot be transferred.
Step 2: Secure offer from new school
Get an official Offer Letter / Acceptance Letter from the new school. This is required for the new visa application.
Step 3: New school applies for MOE support letter
The new school applies to MOE for a Letter of Support (Surat Sokong). This takes 8–12 weeks. You may be asked to exit and re-enter Malaysia.
Step 4: New Student Pass application to JIM
Once MOE letter is received, the school submits a new Student Pass application to JIM (Immigration Department). Timeline: 4–8 weeks.

• Student passes are NOT transferable between schools
• Do not attend the new school before the new pass is issued
• Stay in the country legally during the transition — get a Special Pass if needed
• Contact your new school's Admissions/Visa Office immediately
